These terms apply when you use the Mealendar iPhone app, its website and the waitlist (together, “Mealendar”). Mealendar is run by [Operator legal name] in Singapore (“we”, “us”). By using Mealendar, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Questions go to [support email].

The short version

  • Your household's content is yours. We use it to run the features you choose, and we don't sell it.

  • AI suggests, you decide. Check meal plans against allergies, and check receipt reads and translations before you rely on them.

  • Mealendar keeps the record; it doesn't move money. “Mark as paid” is a note. The payment itself happens elsewhere.

  • Sister is a person, not a feature. The app helps the house plan together. It doesn't replace an employment agreement.

  • It's early access. Features will change, and some may break. Keep your own copy of anything important.

This summary is for convenience. The full terms below are what apply.

01Early access

Mealendar is in early access. It is available by invitation, on iPhone, starting with households in Singapore and Malaysia. Invitations are sent in batches, and joining the waitlist does not guarantee an invite.

During early access the app may be distributed through Apple's TestFlight. Features, limits and screens can change, appear or be removed without notice, and parts of the service may be unavailable for a while. We'll try to give notice before any change that affects your data.

02Who can use Mealendar

  • To create a household or be a member who manages expenses, you must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding agreement where you live.
  • People under 18 may join a household only when invited by a parent or guardian who is a member. That adult is responsible for their use of Mealendar.
  • You may not use Mealendar if the law where you live doesn't allow it, or if we have previously removed your access.

03Households, members and Sister

Mealendar is organised around a household. A household has two kinds of people:

  • Members plan meals, record shopping and expenses, and manage the household. Members can see and edit the household's plans, fridge, receipts and splits.
  • Sister is the role for the person who cooks and shops for the house, usually a live-in helper. Sister sees what to cook, for how many people, how the house likes it, and the shopping she is asked to do. Sister does not see trips, dinners out or the members' splits.

If you invite someone into your household, you're responsible for making sure they're happy to join and that they understand what the other people in the household will see. Anything you add to a household is visible to its other members, within the limits of their role.

Keep the device you use Mealendar on secure. You're responsible for what happens under your place in the household. Tell us promptly if you think someone is using it without your permission.

Mealendar helps a household coordinate meals and shopping. It is not an employment, scheduling or monitoring tool. It does not set a helper's working hours, rest days, duties or pay, and using it doesn't change anyone's obligations under employment law in Singapore, Malaysia or elsewhere. Employers remain responsible for those obligations.

04Your content

“Your content” means what you and your household put into Mealendar: names, meal plans, dishes, notes, preferences, receipt photos, shopping lists, expenses and messages to the planner.

  • You keep ownership of your content.
  • You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, process, translate and display your content only to run Mealendar for your household. That includes sending it to the service providers in section 10 when a feature needs them.
  • We don't sell your content, and we don't use it for advertising. We don't use it to train AI models of our own.
  • We may use counts, usage totals and error reports to keep the service working and to fix problems. We may read specific content when you ask for help, or when we need to in order to investigate abuse or comply with the law.

You're responsible for having the right to add what you add. That covers photos and personal details about other people in your household.

05AI features: suggestions, not advice

Some features use AI models: planning meals from what you ask, suggesting dishes, reading receipts, translating dish names and notes, and suggesting recipe videos. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or unexpected.

  • Meal plans and dish suggestions are ideas for a home kitchen. They aren't medical, nutritional or dietary advice, and they may not account for allergies, intolerances, pregnancy, medication or health conditions. Check ingredients yourself. Nothing is added to your plan until you tap Add.
  • Receipt reading can misread items, quantities, prices or currency. Review the lines before you save them, especially when they feed into a split.
  • Translations can lose meaning. Where it matters, such as an allergy or a food that is off-limits, say it to the person directly too.

To provide these features, the relevant content, such as your message, a receipt photo or a dish name, is sent to the AI providers we use for processing, which may happen outside Singapore. We send only what the feature needs.

06Expenses and the monthly split

  • Mealendar records who paid for what and works out who owes whom. It doesn't hold, send or receive money, and it isn't a payment, banking or remittance service.
  • “Mark as paid” and “settled” are records your household keeps for itself. They don't confirm that a payment actually happened.
  • Singapore dollars and Malaysian ringgit are kept apart. When the month is netted into one payment, the exchange rate used is the one your household sets. We don't supply or guarantee rates.
  • Splits and spending summaries are for your household's convenience. They aren't accounting, tax or financial advice. If an amount matters, check it against the receipt.

07Recipe videos and other third-party content

Recipe videos that Mealendar finds and shows are hosted by third parties such as YouTube and belong to their creators. Watching them is subject to that platform's own terms. We don't control or endorse them, and a suggestion that a video suits your household is our best guess, not a review of the recipe or its safety.

08Plans, allowances and payments

  • Mealendar will have a free plan. Planning by hand, the fridge, splits and manual entries are free.
  • Some features, such as receipt scans and AI planning, come with a monthly allowance per household. When it runs out, those features pause until the next month or until you move to a paid plan, if one is offered.
  • If we introduce paid plans, prices will be shown in the app before you buy. Purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds will be handled by Apple through the App Store, under Apple's terms.
  • We'll give reasonable notice before a price change affects an existing subscription.

09Acceptable use

Please use Mealendar the way it's meant to be used: for your own household. You agree not to:

  • use it to harass, threaten, demean or discriminate against anyone, including a member of your household or Sister;
  • add content that is illegal or infringes someone else's rights, or personal information about people outside the household that you have no right to share;
  • try to get into another household's data, or into parts of the service your role doesn't open;
  • reverse engineer, scrape, overload or disrupt the service, or try to get around allowances or limits;
  • use automated means to create households, join the waitlist or call our features;
  • resell Mealendar or use it to build a competing product.

If you break these terms, we may limit, suspend or end your access, and where it's serious, your household's access.

10Services we rely on

Mealendar is built on services run by other companies. They fall into these kinds:

  • App distributionApple's App Store and TestFlight
  • Hosting and storagerunning the app, signing in and keeping your household's data and photos
  • AI providersplanning, receipt reading and translation
  • Video platformsfinding and showing recipe videos
  • Sign-up toolskeeping the waitlist

Which companies fill these roles will change as Mealendar grows. These providers act under their own terms, and we aren't responsible for their services. We choose them carefully and send them only what a feature needs.

11Leaving, deletion and suspension

  • You can stop using Mealendar at any time.
  • To delete your account, or your whole household and its content, email [support email] with your household and the name you use in it. We may ask a member of the household to confirm. We'll delete it within 30 days, except for anything we have to keep by law. Copies on other people's devices, and anything they saved or exported, may remain.
  • To leave the waitlist, reply to any email from us or write to the same address.
  • We may suspend or end access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Mealendar. Unless there's a good reason not to, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to get a copy of your content.

12Disclaimers

Mealendar is provided “as is” and “as available”, especially during early access. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that it will keep every piece of data, or that AI output, translations, receipt reads or calculations will be accurate. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose.

13Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profit or goodwill, arising from your use of Mealendar. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and S$50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, you keep the rights consumer law gives you where you live.

14Changes to Mealendar or these terms

We'll update these terms as Mealendar changes. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. For changes that matter, we'll tell you in the app, or by email where we have one, before they take effect. If you keep using Mealendar after that, you accept the updated terms. If you don't accept them, you can stop using Mealendar and ask us to delete your content.

15Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Disputes will be heard by the courts of Singapore, unless the consumer law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring the claim there. We'd always rather sort things out directly first, so please write to us.
